Dementia

Are You Currently Experiencing a Memory Problem?

For Seniors’
A Major Cause of this Problem is a Nutrient Deficiency

There is an Easy Solution

Orally taking a tablet daily containing a high amount of a critical nutrient may help you with your memory shortfall problem.

The tablet contains 1,000 micro grams of the nutrient. That is sufficient to overcome the low absorption rate that seniors’ experience in their bodies.

Below is a Call to Action for a free trial run for you of the nutrient. This is to see if it will help you to restore your memory. It does help in 61% of the seniors’ dementia cases.

The trial run is FREE. No obligation for you. It’s at our expense. We’re interested in helping you find relief.

How Did This Nutrient Deficiency Problem Originate?

As we age, our bodies gradually lose the ability to absorb a key nutrient to maintain our memory power.

For seniors in their 60’s, the mean value absorption rate is 1.2%[1] for this nutrient.

That means 50% of the people have less than a 1.2% absorption of the nutrient. And the other 50% have more.

The mean is the middle value for the population.

Why is this Nutrient Important?

Good question.

Hey, summer is here.

Summer brings long fun evening’s ideal for an exciting social life.

Now, do you join in the social life? Or do you just not bother because you have a short-term memory problem?

Not bother? Because of Dementia?

You’re embarrassed because it is too difficult for you to participate in a conversation. You’re confused. You don’t remember the words to respond to. You quickly forget what was said. You ask for a repeat. People give up – start to ignore you. You become isolated.

So is this what is happening? You don’t participate in social functions? You stay home, watch television, and become lonely? Not very exciting isn’t it?

There you sit. Now having the fear of being placed in a nursing home. And you’re thinking about it. You think you will be alongside people who chat in words you don’t understand. Or they’re sleeping. Or they’re yelling at someone. Usually the caretaker who doesn’t respond.

Well, that’s what could happen over time when your body is deficient with this key nutrient.

Let’s not it be you.

A solution to help restore your memory

But there is a way out. You may be having an onslaught of Dementia because your body is deficient with a critical nutrient that supports brain power.

You Ask – “Why is that? I’m on a balanced diet. Take a multi-vitamin. Sleep well. Yet, is there a nutrient I’m deficient in? Didn’t know that. How can that be? I didn’t have this problem when I was younger. What’s going on?”

Good questions.

You see. About the culprit nutrient. Your body becomes less able to absorb this nutrient as you age. When a person is in their 60’s, the mean absorption rate for this nutrient is 1.2%.

“Mean? Please explain.” Okay – interpret the mean as 50% of the population has an absorption rate of less than 1.2% and the other 50% has an absorption rate more than 50%. The mean is the middle point of the population.

So a tablet containing a much higher amount of this nutrient may help you in resolving your memory problem. You must try it!

A typical multivitamin contains 6 micrograms (mcg) of the nutrient. Some specialize as high as 100 mcg. Mayo Clinic[1] advises 6 mcg per day absorbed in your system. With the typical absorption rate of 1.2%, you can see that even the 100 mcg tablet is grossly short at 1.2 mcg.

At your request, we can send you a FREE 30 day supply of 1,000 mcg content nutrient tablets. You can see if 1,000 mcg helps you. There is no obligation on your part to buy anything. Take a tablet every day for 30 days. Find out if it helps you improve your memory. It’s free.

Why do we do this? For free? Our main concern is that we want to help you wipe-out your Dementia. And this one way to do it.

You will be taking tablets in the comfort of your home. See if your spouse’s notice a gradual improvement?

The nutrient can help bring back your exciting social life. Always something for you to do. You don’t have to have those lonely evenings. WOW!

And you were worried about having to be placed in a nursing home? Not anymore. That fear is history.

The nutrient tablets have helped you.

Executive Summary

Seniors (especially men) tend to let the natural beauty of their teeth go downhill over time. This is a major problem. Seniors lose their great smile. They believe it is the natural outcome of aging. It isn’t. What happens is they appear unhealthy. People the senior meets tend to shy away from him if he appears unhealthy. He suffers rejection. It is emotionally painful.

This white paper explores the role Cosmetic Dentistry plays in restoring that great smile. It explains how the senior can become more confident, personable and have respect. The emotional pain of rejection disappears.

First up is an explanation on what Cosmetic Dentistry is. It includes some sample questions to ask your Dentist. Also, how you can start the conversation. And a way that can show you what your great smile will look like with the options selected.

This white paper identifies and explains eight common options for returning great smiles. In summary, they are:

  • Bonding – filler to repair chips, remove large gaps between teeth
  • Teeth Whitening – removing tooth stains and yellowing
  • Veneers – thin ceramic overlay covering chips, minor cracks, closing minor tooth gaps
  • Crowns – restoring a badly damaged tooth to its normal appearance
  • Dental Implants – replacing a completely lost tooth
  • Clear Orthodontic Aligners – for moderate straightening of teeth
  • Tooth Contouring – relative small changes to improve a tooth’s appearance
  • Bridges, Partial Dentures – less costly option to replace missing teeth

Some patients may choose to have all eight options. Some just one. Usually it’s two or three. It all depends on what the patient is looking for coupled with what the Cosmetic Dentist recommends.

Each option has a description, what to expect in the procedure and is it right for you.

This white paper covers what to look for in choosing a Cosmetic Dentist. Does the Dentist have the necessary expertise to perform the procedure? How does he qualify? What’s his training? Any testimonials? You would like proof that people are happy at what he does.

With those questions ready, how do you find a Cosmetic Dentist? A process is lead through starting with a search into the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry membership list. Alternate approaches to find a dentist are covered such as referrals, testimonials, interviews.

Finally some additional comments on why oral health is important, especially for men. It addresses longevity, cardiovascular disease, being vulnerable to heart attacks and strokes.

The purpose of this report is to have the patient become knowledgeable allowing a productive interaction with the Cosmetic Dentist.

What is Cosmetic Dentistry?

It’s amazing what Cosmetic Dentistry can do for you. Makes you feel great about your teeth and smile. Your health, relationships, even your professional life if you still have a business.

From simple changes to major makeovers. Discoloring, chips, misshapen, spaces or missing teeth. Cosmetic Dentistry’s job is to remove these imperfections. How? A Dentist can use bleaching, bonding, crowns, veneers, implants, contouring or tooth positioning.

Review each one of these processes in their description below. Some of these treatments also improve your health. Example – your bite.

Talk to your Dentist. He will ask you how you rate your smile. What would you like it to be? He will respond to your questions and concerns. Then he will review with you the techniques available to improve your smile. He starts with the condition of your teeth and then work towards the result you would like to have.

Here are some questions you may want to ask:

  • I would like to know what the changes will look like.
  • What can I expect while going through the treatments?
  • When completed, is there specific maintenance required? If so, what?

The Dentist knows you want to understand the result. What would your perfect smile look like? He can show you photos of before and after smiles with previous patients. Or he may have a computer imaging technology available. You view your present condition on a computer screen. Then you watch as each imperfection responds to a change. You get excited.

Cosmetic Dentists have extensive training on the concepts of smile design. What they do can fit the description “Works of Art”. Expect a real, positive change in your life. You will gasp in amazement with the possibilities it opens up. GO FOR IT.

Your smile is important.

Imagine yourself talking to your loved one. To her, your new smile makes you look handsome, youthful, fun. She’s turned-on, loving.

Or you’re chatting with a bunch of friends. About golf. You’re the center of attention. Your smile makes you appear confident, personable. Your advice is being listened too respectfully receiving acknowledged acceptance. You feel respected. Your level of pride is high.

Maybe it’s your professional life. You’re talking face-to-face with a client. The smile you have radiates with confidence, an expert in your field, personable, easy to work with, trusting. Another sale made. Great.

These are only three instances on how your great smile can benefit you. You will find many more.

But, how do we get there.

How do you get that great smile

Let’s say you have an appointment with a Cosmetic Dentist. The Dentist asks you: “How do you rate your smile on a scale from 1 to 10?” Ten being movie star quality. You say “a 3”. He then asks: “What would you like it to be?” You respond: “At least an 8.”

The Dentist will ask what specifically do you dislike about your teeth that affects your smile. Are they yellow, discolored? Do you have chips or cracks making you look older? How about your smile – is it gummy looking? Are some teeth crooked? Are there noticeable gaps between each pair of teeth? Do you have a past photo of what you would like to have your teeth look like?

With answers from those questions in mind, the dentist will then walk you through the different options available. See the section below. As part of the discussion, he would like to examine the condition of your teeth beforehand so he can have a more detailed discussion on what would be appropriate for you.

Some Dentists can show you on a computer monitor how your smile will look after the restoration.

Popular teeth enhancing options

  1. Here are eight options commonly used.
  • Bonding
  • Teeth Whitening
  • Porcelain Veneers
  • Crowns
  • Dental Implants
  • Clear Orthodontic Aligners
  • Tooth Contouring and Reshaping
  • Bridges, partial dentures

That’s a mouthful of options (no pun intended).

Let’s talk about each one – what the process is, how the Dentist performs it, and is it right for you. Then we can discuss an agreeable plan for you.

Bonding

Bonding is an option for filling in:

  • Gaps on chipped or cracked teeth
  • Gaps between teeth
  • Small cavities
  • Coating the surface of severely discolored teeth.

The material used is a tooth-colored plastic resin with a glass fiber filler. It takes only a single office visit and the filler can last for several years.

A problem with Bonding:

  • Has a greater tendency for staining and chipping vs. other options.

This should not be a problem with good oral hygiene and not engaging in certain sports.

Is this a good option for you? It would be if your problem is limited to chipped/cracked teeth, a tooth gap or filling in a small cavity. The process has a fast turn-around time and is an inexpensive option.

Teeth Whitening (Bleaching)

A popular process for whitening teeth. Used mainly for removing stains and the yellow color built up over time. Sometimes people just want that movie star white color smile.

Two processes are available for in-office treatment.

  1. A bleaching liquid is used. Dentist makes a custom mouthpiece for holding the liquid.
  2. Your teeth have a whitening gel applied. To hasten the bleaching process, a heat or light source may be used.

Your office visit will last from 45 minutes to an hour. Sometimes more than one office visit is required to reach your desired effect.

For home use under dental direction, the Dentist may give you a lower concentration bleaching liquid and a custom made mouth tray. You fit the tray over your teeth for a prescribed time period. The home process is slower and may take two to four weeks.

Over-the-counter whitening products for home use include:

  • Whitening Strips
  • Brush on Whitening
  • Whitening Gum
  • Whitening Toothpaste

Some things to pay attention to with bleaching:

  • Only works on natural teeth. Not on artificial surfaces with bonding, veneers, or crowns.
  • Watch what you eat or drink after the process causing stains – no coffee or tea.
  • No smoking or using chewing tobacco afterwards.
  • You might experience tooth sensitivity or irritation in your mouth during the process.
  • Whitening strips are really only for the front teeth.
  • Do not use whitening products if you have hypersensitivity, periodontal disease or tooth decay.
  • Have a thorough cleaning of your teeth before the process.
  • Be careful about getting the teeth too white. They could look unnatural.
  • Whitening results lasts from six months to two years.

Is the Bleaching option good for you?

  • Yes, if it is only the yellow or stained natural teeth impacting your smile. Cost is low and the process is quick.
  • No, if you have crowns, veneers, bonding, fillings, tooth gaps, crooked teeth or oral disease.

Porcelain Veneers

Veneers are a thin ceramic overlay glued onto the front of a tooth. The veneer covers up a variety of tooth conditions – color, minor cracks, chipping, closing minor to moderate gaps, fill-in for tooth loss from teeth grinding, neutralize excess gum tissue.

Life for a veneer varies from seven to twenty years. They don’t stain as readily as natural teeth.

Process to make and install a veneer is one to three weeks with two or three visits. Veneers are expensive but not as much as a crown. The Dentist will place a temporary plastic veneer on the tooth before the permanent veneer is ready.

The tooth will have a small portion of its mounting surface buffed away before the veneer’s placement. This sometimes requires a local anesthetic. The glue is then hardened with a light beam.

Care for veneers is no different than the care for natural teeth.

Are veneers a good option for you?

Yes, if the condition is not a major fixable. Veneers have a long life, do not easily stain and make for a beautiful smile. But they are expensive.

Crowns

Crowns (or Caps) cover a tooth completely restoring it to its normal appearance. They are the option when a major portion of the tooth’s structure has been lost.

In preparation for a crown, the Dentist first applies a local anesthesia to numb the area. Then he removes the outer layer of the tooth. An impression is made of the reduced tooth, its neighboring teeth and the gum. The impression goes to the lab fabricating the crown.

The permanent crown takes a few weeks to make. Color, bite and shape considerations enter into the process on the making of a crown. For the interim, while the permanent crown is in fabrication, the Dentist installs a temporary.

At the next visit, the Dentist removes the temporary and cements in the permanent crown. Crowns have a life expectancy of five to eight years. Longer life with good hygiene and care.

Now your teeth look natural. Your confidence and great smile are back.

Are crowns a good option for you? Yes, if a significant portion of the tooth has damage or is crooked, out of shape. You will notice that a lot of seniors observe your great smile, ask you to show your teeth. And then they nod in approval. However, the cost for a crown is significant. But you will find it is well worth the cost.

For good maintenance of crowns, avoid chewing on hard foods and ice. Do not use an abrasive toothpaste. Floss daily to control plaque forming at the crown’s base. Also, if you grind your teeth at night, consider using a night guard.

Dental Implants

When you have a complete loss of a tooth due to disease or an accident, replacing it with a dental implant is an option. It is an alternative to a bridge.

A Dentist will first do a comprehensive exam, x-rays and a consultation service. It is necessary to review the condition of the gum tissue and bone for sufficient support of the implant.

Look at an implant as an artificial root for a tooth. It is a cylinder usually made of titanium serving as the base for an artificial, natural looking tooth.

The Dentist (or an Oral Surgeon) first applies a local anesthesia to numb the area. Then he opens the gum and drills a hole into the jawbone for the install of the implant.

A healing time now starts. This is not a short time process.

After the implant install, it takes three to six months for healing allowing the bone to grow around the implant. Healing time depends on the density of the jaw bone. The implant will be a solid foundation for the artificial tooth. A temporary removable artificial tooth will serve in the interim. Along the way, an impression is made of the area as a guide in making the new tooth.

In the next visit, the Dentist will open up the implant location and install a threaded connector called an abutment. A second short healing time starts allowing the gum tissue to heal around the abutment.

Finally, at a later visit, the new artificial tooth becomes a reality as part of your great smile.

Are dental implants a good option for you?

Yes, if you have missing teeth or when a crown is not applicable. In some cases, a patient cannot have a bridge or dentures due to part of the jaw or supporting teeth are missing.

No, if you smoke, have diabetes or are on a heavy immune system drug prescription. Tobacco, some prescription drugs and diseases interfere with the healing process possibly leading to infections and implant failures.

Other risks include nerve damage or bone fracture, infection from the implant install procedure. About one in twenty implants fail.

Please review the implant process with your Dentist before taking action. Ask a lot of questions.

The cost for an implant is expensive. But you will find it well worth the cost and the time required.

Clear Orthodontic Aligners

An option is to use Clear Aligners for mild and moderate realignment, straightening of teeth.

First thing to do is to have a complete diagnosis of your individual condition with an Orthodontist or a trained dentist.  Diagnosis includes x-rays, photos and teeth/gum impressions to determine if using clear aligners will be the right option for you. Ending up with the right bite is important.

The alignment process uses several slightly different clear “trays” to move your teeth over time. Tray design is computer generated using input from the diagnosis. Wearing time for each tray in the sequence is 20 hours a day over a two week period. Total time for treatment usually ranges from six months to two years.

Are Clear Orthodontic Aligners right for you?

Yes, if only for mild or moderate realignment of your teeth.

No, if you have a severe case of crowding, gaps or if your bite is way off. Also for a complex movement of the teeth. Then traditional braces will be necessary.

Caution – make sure your provider uses a computer based system for the design of the aligners. Other systems may not work effectively.

Tooth Contouring and Reshaping

You use this option with normal, healthy teeth where you only want to make small changes to your teeth enhancing your smile. But be careful not to expose a tooth’s dentine structure. Your Dentist will evaluate through x-rays the tooth’s pulp size and location for the teeth affected.

Reshaping and contouring can also improve your bite, compensate for small chips.

Sometimes bonding is part of tooth reshaping.

Is tooth contouring and reshaping right for you?

Yes, if changes are relatively minor to improve your bite or the appearance of your teeth.

No, if an analysis of the tooth’s pulp size and location indicate not to do it.

Bridges, Partial Dentures

Less costly option than implants for replacing missing teeth.

Options are a fixed non-removable or a removable bridge or partial denture.

If a permanent tooth is lost, don’t delay in replacing it. Adjacent teeth usually move gradually into the gap left behind. Every tooth has its own place and each one helps the adjacent tooth retain its proper alignment.

Bridges normally are the choice for replacing a missing tooth.

You could also consider attaching a bridge to an adjacent dental implant or a crown. That would save the cost of an additional implant or crown.

How do you choose a Cosmetic Dentist?

First thing you can do is to check the membership database for the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry members in your area. Log on to aacd.com. In the lower right corner of the website, click the box “Find a Dentist”. Fill-in “all” for membership level and your state for “location”. Then click find.

A list of Dentist’s names pops up. Each name will have an aacd membership level identified. There are six membership levels ranging from “Accredited Fellow” (the highest) to “General Member” (most junior). Definitions for each of the six levels is on the website – just click the back arrow at the top to find the definitions.

In your area, you will usually find a few Dentists with a Member Level of “Accredited Member”. They are excellent, demonstrating a very high level of clinical skill and ability in Cosmetic Dentistry, successfully completing the Accreditation Process. You probably will not find a Dentist at the highest level – “Accredited Fellow”. The main difference between the two is the number of patients that the Dentist met the AACD standard of excellence on – 45 additional patients.

For your info, any Dentist in your area can legally identify themselves as a “Cosmetic Dentist”. It is not an official designation within the dentistry world. All Dentists receive some training on Cosmetic Dentistry procedures. But to get to a higher level of expertise, a Dentist will go through an extensive study and training program. It may take several years for him to complete.

You can check online the Dentist’s level of expertise. Find out what school they went to. Did they take continuing education courses? What were they? Are they a member of any professional organization?

Look for referrals. Anybody you know have a cosmetic dental treatment? What’s there opinion on the work done by the Dentist? What’s your opinion on the referral’s smile?

You can also look for testimonials on the dentist’s website. Or call up their office and ask for them. Look for the testimonials that tell a story about why they went to a cosmetic dentist, the work done and the resulting success it brought to the patient.

Book a visit. Were you comfortable with the visit, the office, the people involved, and your treatment?

Ask your regular Dentist who they recommend.

With all this information and possibly more, you should be able to make a decision you’re comfortable with.

Why is Oral Health Important for Men?

Actually for Women too.

Ladies, you know how lax men are when it comes to health. If nothing is wrong, why worry about it. Well men, you should worry about it. You are less likely to take care of your oral health than women. Right? That’s dangerous to your well-being.

There is a correlation between good oral health and your longevity. Researchers found gum disease and cardiovascular disease are related. It can place you vulnerable to heart attacks and strokes. All because of your negligence.

Gum disease is the culprit. Hopefully you brush your teeth twice a day and floss daily to maintain good oral health. But maybe not.

Here are some indicators to look for on gum disease:

  • Gums bleed when brushing your teeth
  • Gums are tender, red and swollen
  • Persistent bad breath
  • Some of your teeth are loose or separating

Better yet, have a visit with a Dentist. Have a thorough cleaning and check-up. Find out where you stand with your oral health. It’s important. For your health, your life, your relationships, follow their guidance.

Men, if you already do this – Congratulations.

It’s the first time you’ll meet your home personal trainer and you want to get all of the information you can get out of him or her. You are investing a lot of your time and money into the process of working with these professionals. You need to get the most out of it. The good news is that most trainers visiting your home will work hand-in-hand with you to ensure all of your needs are met. They will discuss your options, help you to plan for your off-season workouts, and even help you with meals. So what questions should you be asking about nutrition? Here are some good places to start.

Should you be counting calories?

In some situations, counting calories is a must. In other cases, your trainer may not want you to focus on calories. It is a good idea in all situations to ask about calories, determine any range of calories you need, and discuss when you should be eating. Snacks that burn fat are ideal for working out.

What are some types of foods perfect for snacking?

Talk to your trainer about snacks. Although you may have grown up believing that you need to eat three meals a day, most home personal trainers and doctors now recommend five smaller meals. Snacks are a part of that. The question is, though, what foods are acceptable snacks on the go?

What foods should be off limits?

In some cases, your trainer may recommend a high amount of healthy fats. In other cases, he or she may want you to stop consuming highly sugar-based foods and carbs. It is a good idea to discuss any foods you should not eat and be sure you have a plan for how to avoid eating these in your diet.

Should you eat before your workout session?

This will vary in most situations especially based on when your workout session is during the day. You’ll want to talk about what type of fuel you’ll need for that workout, though. Talk to your home personal trainer about your options in various meal types, snacks, and fluid consumption.

What is the best breakfast for you?

This is another big question to ask since it is the start of your day. What you do in the morning can help to fuel your day and get your metabolism going. It is a good idea to discuss how much food you should eat as well as the types of calories you should consume for breakfast.

What about fluid intake?

In nearly all situations, your personal trainer will offer recommendations for what to drink, how much to drink each day, and what to avoid drinking. This can be a big part of weight loss and getting fit especially before and after a workout session.

In many situations, your home personal trainer will provide you with a wide range of information before you get started. Be sure that you ask all of the questions you can about what you should eat and what types of foods are right for you.

Best garden for our SW Florida Home Owners Association

Surprise outcome – residents social friendship soared

A grassy flat area near our Home Owners Association pool was a great candidate for a 20 foot diameter oval garden.

What could we plant there?

Our desire was to have flowery blooms in the winter season, colorful leaved plants, low maintenance, and not too costly. A tall order.

A couple of our residents wanted to work together, create a plan, plant the garden, and keep it looking beautiful. Great, they got the assignment.  The landscape team’s goal was for a “Best Garden”. They were pleasantly surprised at the real outcome. (Details below)

But, the team did not know Florida plants and gardens. What did they do?

We were fortunate to have a Florida botanist on the team. She made the suggestion – “Let’s look at Florida Friendly plants. The University of Florida has several publications available with suggestions for Florida Friendly plants and bed designs.” So they did.

What’s in our garden?

One publication, a guide for plant selection, shows Florida divided into 7 hardiness zones. With plant varieties identified by zone. Our SW Florida HOA is in 10a, a sub-tropical zone.

Our selection from the guide included a couple of small palm trees, a few plants with colorful leaves, shrubs with flowers blooming during the snow-bird season, and a colorful ground cover. It turned out to be a great selection. Yours can have a similar goal. But with a different selection mix.

Why do we call it our “best garden”?

OK, now the garden is blooming. It’s comforting, satisfying. Why is it our “best garden?”

Well, along came one of our association pool parties. The garden brought out positive, friendly conversation. It made the landscape team proud. But above all, the residents were socializing. They had some commonality to talk about. It was a magic atmosphere. Our resident community family was bonding. Interests shared. A simple act of planting a garden did that? The garden brought our HOA residents together.

That’s why we call it our “best garden”. The garden created a pleasant, socializing relationship among our residents. And it’s still there.

No, we didn’t plant shrubs and groundcover that gave off mood changing aromas.

Another event happened – a residence sold for above fair market value

One of our residents recently sold his unit for health reasons. It sold for 14% above fair market value. The couple that bought it had a unit in a neighboring condominium association. They loved our HOA’s well maintained single floor units. And landscaping. But above all, they were intrigued by the cocktail hour laughter coming from the pool deck area. Their desire was to be part of a group socializing regularly and having fun.

They got it. And they thought they bought the unit at a bargain price.

Look what happened

  • A great garden with shrubbery residents are happy about.
  • A garden distilling friendliness and a cooperative spirit among residents.
  • A residence selling significantly above fair market value.

“Florida Friendly Landscaping adds beauty and creates pleasant outdoor living spaces to increase the value of residential property.” Gail Hansen, Assistant Professor, University of Florida.

What will happen to your association if you created a “best garden”?

Find out. Get a team together. Access the Florida Friendly publications. Chat about it. Create a garden plan. Do it. Then enjoy the “WOW” factor.

By the way, the popularity of our President suddenly became awesome.
